Un Fin de Semana en Alicante!

This weekend I went to Alicante, Spain with some friends. Alicante is a lot of fun and it is very beautiful. It is right on the Meditranean sea and has some really nice beaches. We left for Alicante on friday afternoon and came back on Sunday night. It was a perfect weekend vacation!
There was a really cool walk way with palm trees all along it.

beach in the background
on top of the hill is a castle called Castillo de Santa Barbara.

a view from on top of the castle that we walked up to on sunday.

The group of friends I went with. They are from all over the country, South Carolina, California, Nevada, Connecticut, and Michigan

Us at the hostel we stayed at, it had a really cool court yard area that we hung out in before going out.

With our friend Fernando that we met that night!

Our friend Francie from Germany that we also met that night.

There are very old streets in Alicante that are only for walking.

On the beach, there were a lot of topless women here.

Sendy Becca and I on the beach by our hostel.
Alicante was a great place to vacation and relax, I would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice beach and nice people. I had a great weekend and would go back to Alicante anytime

A very Spanish day!

On Sunday I went to another bull fight and got paella and sangria with some friends!
Becca and I with our sangria, its a traditional spanish wine with fruit.

The best paella ever.. ever. It was so delicious, it was also so expensive. When we ordered it we all thought we would be sharing a 3 person serving between the 6 of us which would make it like 60 euro, but there was some miscommunication while ordering and somehow we got a huge paella for like 10 + people and the bill was 120 euro.. woops!

still had the eyeballs and everything.

eww

Miguel and Crlll enjoying the awesome paella.

Drew Nasim and I react after we found out how much we would be paying for the food.

The tradicional wine sack that people take to the bullfights.
With some friends before the bull fight.

I had to take a picture with my UC hat at the bull fight!

I also needed one with my Theta Phi Alpha hat on!
Torero

The red and yellow things hanging from the bulls back are these sticks that have hooks on the end, and the toreros run at the bull with and then stab them in the back as hard as they can.

The final stab.

This guy got jacked up by the bull and got a rip in his pants, there was bare butt, but someone out tape over it for him..

¡Me encanta los toreros!

Me at the bull fight, my last one because the season is ending. :(
This day was a lot of fun and I felt like a real Spaniard, and that feels really good!
Loving Spain!

Day trip to Segovia

Segovia is a beautiful city in Spain. It is a little over an hour away from Madrid by bus. It is a very old walled city, it has a beautiful castle that was the inspiration for the castle in Disney's Sleeping Beauty! It is also known for its roman aqueduct, a beautiful cathedral and roast suckling pig. I had the pig and it was delicious! We also went to la Granja, an awesome huge garden with a bunch of trees flowers and fountains.

This is by the entrance to the Castle Alcázar

King and Queen chairs inside

The ceilings in the castle were all really beautifully carved and gold.

Looking down from the top of the castle

On top of the tower, we had to climb a bunch of stairs to get up here, it felt never ending, but it was worth it!

Going down the stairs with Becca

This is the pig that has been cooking for hours, what the man is about to do is take that plate and cut the pig with it, he cuts it into like 8 pieces and then smashes the skull and breaks the plate on the ground. It was kind of hard seeing the food I was eating in its original state right before it was on my plate.

Part of the baby roast suckling pig, I got the leg, It was soo good

The roman aqueduct used to move water from one side of the city to the other, it was built with large blocks of granite allined with mortar

This is the castle that was inspiration for Walt Disney

This is the beautiful cathedral

This is a picture inside of La Granja
I really liked Segovia and would recommend anyone to visit there, its so old and beautiful with so many awesome things!

My first Spanish Bull Fight!

On Saturday the 10th I went to my first bullfight and I loved it! It was so cool, but also very sad and gory at the same time. I just kept telling myself that it is Spanish culture and they have been doing it for years and years. The fight was exciting and the madadorrs (torrerros) were totally hot :) We watched 3 different main matadors fight 6 different bulls. At the end of the fight we went to take pictures with the fighters.
this was the first matador
a statue out side of the Plaza De Torros

This was the second matador,
the one I took a picture with after the fight.

This was the third matador,
he was really good and he was only 20 years old.

I love their little costumes, it makes the butt look good!

These were all the matadors there. There are actually a lot but only the three actually fight the bull.
What a hottie.
I believe that my first bullfight was a success
and I believe I will be going back next week!
